Vivid.com review

Vivid Entertainment is a big name in the porn industry. They started doing porn over 30 years ago, and have released thousands of VHS tapes and DVDs since then. They also started their membership based website early on, in the 90s. It's still active today, and that's the one we're reviewing today.

Before diving into the review, I want to give you a heads-up. If you're looking for Vivid's celebrity sex tapes, you need to go to our Vivid Celeb review instead. They're on that standalone site, which requires a standalone membership.

Ok, so back to Vivid.com. After logging in with my password, I found the members' area user interface a bit confusing. There are so many things to explore. Now that's not a problem, but you also discover quickly that some of those things are just ads. The main content can be accessed from the Vivid Features menu.

At the time of the review, the site has over 1280 movies to watch. That's a nice amount, especially if you consider that most of the updates here are not single scenes, but full length DVD movies with 4-5 scenes.
To give you a better understanding of Vivid.com's members' area content, I'll give you a breakdown. Every video in their library falls under one of these types or series.

Vivid Movies & Vivid TV: Their main stuff, over 1000 flicks. Various hardcore porn flicks with fucking, blowjobs, taboo stories (eg. stepmoms, cheating), swingers, lesbian sex. They are the largest part of the library. Some of the latest flicks added are Four Poor Black Sitters, Caught With My Stepbro, Damn I F'd My Stepdaddy, Moms Teach Daughters, and Porn's Biggest Black Butts.

Vivid Parodies: Porn parodies from Vivid, such as as Avengers vs. X-men XXX, Wonder Woman XXX, Spider Man XXX 2, and The Dating Game XXX. 26 full length DVDs.

Casting / Brand New Faces: Brand New Faces is Vivid's casting series. New starlets get fucked. 72 episodes currently.

Vivid Classics: Vivid's vintage porn section. You'll find many of their great old movies here, starring some of their porn star legends, like Christy Canyon and Chasey Lane. 91 full movies.

Vivid Alt: Some artistic and alt films. 23 Full DVDs.

Vivid Ed: A sexual education series. They have real explanations of many topics. Not just dry lectures though, everything is demonstrated as well. Some titles: Tristan Taormino's Expert Guide to Female Ejaculation, Expert Guide To Advanced Anal Sex, Expert Guide to Female Orgasms, Expert Guide to Sensual Bondage, and Expert Guide to Cunnilingus. 21 movies in total.

There's also a big Bonus Movies section that you get access to. It has thousands of licensed movies from various porn studios.

The new updates are good quality, they are available in multiple resolutions, the highest one being 1080P Full HD. There is one big downside I have to mention here. The site is streaming-only. You can watch the vids on the website, in their YouTube-like video player. It's quick, smooth, and good quality. However there are many people who still prefer to download the movies. That's not possible here.
(Note: The Vivid Classic movies are a special case of course. They are old movies, so they can't look as good as the new ones. The Vivid Classics are mainly VHS tape movies, so worse than DVD quality.)

We've already touched on the subject of the usability. There are no video downloads, but the online playback is fast. The navigation is not very clear, some videos appear in multiple sections, and some links that look different lead to the same place. The current sections are not enough to categorize a library this big, they should add proper categories, and keywords. The model index is OK, once you find it. (You have to go to "Vivid Girls" first, which only lists their main stars. Then follow the "All Vivid Porn Stars" link to get to the list of all models.)

On mobile, the design looks nice, and the videos play nicely. The newest ones. The old videos are hard to find, there is no proper navigation on mobile. You'd have to scroll through all 1000+ movies to find what you're looking for, that's just not feasible. Also, they should offer all resolutions on mobile, not just the lowest two.

Vivid.com adds about 2 DVDs per month, and the individual scenes of the DVDs appear on different days. It seems to me that most of these DVDs are a few years old. I'm not sure if any of the content is exclusive on the website. My guess is that everything has been published on DVD or TV in the past.
I've seen pictures being mentioned in their tour, but I couldn't actually find them in the members' area. It looks like there are only videos at the moment.

So here comes the conclusion. Vivid.com is a big name, and they have produced a big amount of high quality, mainstream porn DVDs. Both with porn stars, and amateurs. It's nice to have access to over 1270 of them on a single website. The navigation and search features should be improved, but at least the interface and the video player are fast.
The biggest drawback is not allowing downloads. I recommend the site to Vivid Entertainment fans who like to watch movies online. (If you use our link, you'll get a Vivid.com discount.)
