Who doesn't enjoy indulging in the occasional sin? If you're reading a porn review, it's fair to say that you've indulged in a few yourself. I know I have, and that's only in the last few hours. What if there was a porn site that not only celebrated sin but celebrated the Seven Deadly Sins? Well, there is a new site that does just that.
Modern Day Sins is a new and innovative flagship site / channel that is part of the huge Adult Time network.
Modern Day Sins started to create some buzz in late 2021 prior to its launch in January 2022. Adult Time had good reason for hyping the launch because even for a network like Adult Time, Modern Day Sins breaks some new ground. In their own words, Adult Time is trying to give porn an “dramatic and luxurious makeover.” More important, in my opinion, is that this is Adult Time's first “fully-inclusive” studio that will offer straight, lesbian, transgender and gay scenes on the same channel all revolving around seven different themes. Modern Day Sins also marks the first original gay content produced by Adult Time.
As an aside, if your tastes in porn are more traditional, meaning that you are a straight viewer who prefers a straight porn, Modern Day Sins is merely trying to be inclusive and not exclude those of us who prefer straight porn. There's lots of “traditional” straight porn here too, but with that dramatic and luxurious twist to it.
Adult Time states in their blog that they want Modern Day Sins to break new ground in all aspects of porn. They want to celebrate excess and create an “indulgent feast for the eyes.” They want to present the actors as being more “stylish and sophisticated” with the interactions being more “urgent and desperate, and their sex … more depraved and more intense.”
With their stated goal of making different and better porn, Modern Day Sins certainly makes strides toward this by featuring a Who's Who list of top American porn stars today. At Modern Day Sins, you'll find some of the best performers working and they certainly bring their A-game to the scenes here.
The idea of excess led Adult Time to create Modern Day Sins based on seven themes which are themselves based on the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins. Indulging in any of the Seven Deadly sins – gluttony, pride, greed, lust, wrath, sloth and envy – leads the sinner down a certain path of damnation. Following on the themes of the Seven Deadly Sins, Modern Day Sins creates seven themes with each scene being slotted into one of those themes. Those themes are:
So after all the hype and buzz around Modern Day Sins before it launched, the obvious question is whether it delivers on its promises. In my opinion, it doesn't, but, as I'll explain below, it also doesn't really matter that Modern Day Sins has missed its targets because it's still a great channel and well worth watching.
I want to preface this comment by saying that I don't see this as an overall negative against Modern Day Sins or what Adult Time is trying to do with this channel. I fully support any innovation in porn and few of us would argue against greater inclusivity. Whether you or I watch the gay scenes here isn't as important as the fact that it's breaking down another barrier and that this one channel has something to bring in a wide variety of interests. Where the site does come up short, in my opinion, is in creating different, more “luxurious” porn for subscribers. Leaving aside my opinion, which is that I don't need more “luxurious” porn, much of what Modern Day Sins offers is relatively mainstream.
It's important to note, however, that while much of what Modern Day Sins has here is mainstream hardcore porn, its production values – how it's casted, written, shot and edited – is class-leading. While the sex itself isn't really all that different from other high-profile, high-end sites, it is exceptionally well produced. And, if you're like me and prefer the sex to be both hot and fun to watch, then you, like me, will enjoy watching the scenes.
Perhaps a simpler way of describing my thoughts about the choice of the Seven Deadly Scenes for anchoring seven themes is to note that except for the themes involving anal sex, threesomes and creampies, there isn't that much of a differentiation between the others.
While there is no continuous plot running throughout all the scenes on Modern Day Sins or within any of the seven themes, the individual scenes are more plot-based than many other mainstream scenes. This is an aspect of the scenes at Modern Day Sins that really does stand out. The writing goes well beyond the typical porn tropes that are so often overused these days. There is genuine creativity and artistry here in many scenes. Further, Modern Day Sins has casted top-tier models who also have acting skills. All of these combine to create some great scenes.
At the time of this review, there were 57 scenes available, but that number is growing by 1-2 new scenes every week. For completeness, I'll also break down the current number of scenes available by sexual orientation. These are:
If the intended artistry of the scenes at Modern Day Sins is slightly off its target, in my opinion, the technical aspects of the scenes leave nothing to be desired. While not everyone may agree with me, Gamma Entertainment generally, and Adult Time (including Modern Day Sins) specifically, create sites that are the gold standard and could serve as examples of excellence for some competitors.
As with all sites within Adult Time, you get an awesome members area that works great on all devices from desktop to mobile. You can browse and search the scenes in every imaginable way, which is important since you're getting access to the entire Adult Time library of over 60,000 videos and 45,000 picture galleries.
Among the technically superior aspects of Adult Time generally, and Modern Day Sins specifically, are the many ways that a subscriber can view the scenes. All scenes are available for streaming, and downloading as well, unless you choose a cheaper streaming-only membership. Streaming is available in six resolutions, up to and including 4K. Downloads are available in eight different resolutions including 4K. I've posted details on the resolutions and bitrates in the video details box.
Regardless of the resolution you choose to view or download the scene, I found speeds to be fast and stable. With streaming, I had no significant buffering even when scrubbing ahead in the scene. With downloads, those were fast and stable with no failures or breaks. Obviously, your own Internet connection will play an important role here.
Adult Time is now offering streaming in what they are calling “Theatre Mode.” I've tried using theatre mode, but its purpose is lost on me. A viewer can simply start streaming a scene on that scene's page or probably what is more common, is that the viewer can turn on full-screen mode. Theatre mode seems to be in the middle of those where a smaller portion of the screen is taken up with the video. My preference is always using full-screen mode but perhaps there are viewers who want to this third mode. It's certainly not a negative to be given another option, but the option doesn't seem to have a lot of value.
Modern Day Sins doesn't have any real photography. The picture sets that come with the scenes are just screen grabs, taken from the videos. They can be nice to get a quick overview of the scene, but that's about it. I don't recommend this site to anyone who prefers pictures to videos.
While this review is all of the Modern Day Sins channel only, it would be incomplete without a mention that a subscription to it includes a subscription to the entire Adult Time network. We've written a review of the network and I highly encourage anyone who isn't familiar with Adult Time to read that, because Adult Time is innovative in how it offers such a large volume of adult scenes across such a broad spectrum of interests for the price of just one subscription. Even if you only joined to get access to one channel, I'm confident that after some browsing around, you'll find lots more to like on the network.
For readers who are familiar with Adult Time, a valid question is whether Modern Day Sins will be a limited exclusive series or will it grow into a permanent large channel with lots of updates in the future. While no one can predict the future, the Modern Day Sins blog states that it is their intention to develop the channel as a long-running series similar to other long-running series on the network such as Pure Taboo, Girlsway and 21 Sextury, and updates have been steady too so far. For fans of Modern Day Sins, it sounds like there will be a lot of scenes in the future for us to enjoy.
Modern Day Sins, and the entire Adult Time Network, use a subscription model that is becoming more common these days, namely a tiered-membership with a higher subscription fee if you want to include downloads. I'd consider myself to be “old-school” since I have been actively collecting porn for close to 30 years. I suspect many others who consider themselves to be old-school won't agree with me, but I support this model if done right. Given the prevalence of streaming and the fact that so many porn subscribers don't consider themselves collectors and, therefore, don't have any interest in downloading and saving scenes, it's fair that they pay less. As the proportion of downloaders diminishes in relation to those who simply want to stream scenes, I think this business model will be more widely used in the industry.
The one caveat that I have about charging more for a membership that includes downloads is that a site needs to be clear about this. As an active porn site subscriber, I don't know of any other company that does this better than Gamma Entertainment, the parent company of Adult Time and Modern Day Sins. When a potential subscriber goes to the “join” page they are presented with a menu. The join page is clear in what each level of membership provides. No subscriber can subscribe to a streaming-only membership and claim that they weren't aware of the limitation. The approach that Gamma Entertainment uses is in direct contrast to some of their biggest competitors who, at best, bury membership details somewhere on the site. Of course porn review sites such as x3guide provide this information to you, but not everyone reads our reviews before buying a membership.
My hope is that the transparent model used by Gamma Entertainment sees wider use in the industry. If a site offers great porn at a decent price, then why not be as upfront about the different membership levels as Gamma Entertainment is?
Now is a good time to mention that joining Modern Day Sins using our link at x3guide not only gives you a discount but makes the downloading option cheaper, so it's a good deal for the collectors.
For anyone who is new to subscribing to porn sites, Adult Time, including Modern Day Sins, is a great place to start exploring paysites. For somebody new to subscribing, Adult Time has a huge amount of porn to offer, and you'll get access to all of it if you join Modern Day Sins—over 60,000 scenes.
Second, but very important to somebody new to subscribing, is that Gamma Entertainment is a reputable company. I have subscribed to Gamma sites hundreds of times over the years and have never had a single membership problem. Subscribers can join Modern Day Sins with confidence.
While I do think that Modern Day Sins didn't hit its stated target of creating luxurious porn, they certainly created porn that is well shot, well performed and hot. I may not appreciate the artistry, but I certainly like the scenes they have to offer. At Modern Day Sins, and Adult Time generally, there is just so much top-quality, artistic and passionate porn on offer, that regardless of how innovative you find Modern Day Sins, you'll be very happy with the membership.
