Midwest Freaks review

I’ve written in other reviews here that while I like the big professional studio sites, I also like the quirkier independent sites that don’t often get the same attention as the larger studio sites and networks. In my opinion, one of the best independent sites I’ve joined in the past several years is PrivateSociety. Midwest Freaks is a new sister site to Private Society, but with a few unique twists.

While there is currently considerable overlap between PrivateSociety and Midwest Freaks, and more on that below, Midwest Freaks has a lot of exclusive scenes to offer. The site owner himself calls Midwest Freaks a “master archive on steroids” for everything he has ever shot. The Midwest Freaks starting library has scenes from PrivateSociety, but is now adding exclusive scenes as well. Midwest Freaks keeps growing, and the site owner’s intent is that it will feature edgier and raunchier scenes than PrivateSociety.

As with Private Society, the scenes here at Midwest Freaks cover a broad range of niches and interests. Midwest Freaks is an amateur porn site, with raw, graphic sex. It has porn with lots of B/G, G/G, threesomes, orgies, interracial, anal, outdoor shoots, and just about everything else “regular” that you can think of.

Having said that Midwest Freaks is primarily a mainstream porn site, I have viewed many of the new scenes and newly uploaded scenes that have not been made available on Private Society, and they often do have a slightly “raunchier” edge to them. It isn’t pronounced in such a way that it makes the scenes misogynistic or lean into BDSM, but there is more of an amateur feel with a harder edge.

While most of the scenes here at Midwest Freaks can’t be classified as gonzo, they aren’t plot-based either. In some scenes there is some short conversation with the amateur models at the beginning of the scene before the action starts.

One type of scene that the owner says Midwest Freaks will feature more than is available at Private Society or on any other mainstream site is what’s sometimes known as “dirty anal”. As of this review, there are currently several of these scenes. While they aren’t so “dirty” as to attract censorship, they are certainly dirtier than most other sites are willing to show. If Midwest Freaks develops this theme further, I think they will find great success because my reading of multiple porn forums indicates that there is an audience for this material.

As I noted above briefly, as of this writing, there are 858 scenes currently uploaded to Midwest Freaks. The update schedule is irregular but frequent. Looking back over the first couple of months of the site’s existence, they have been uploading 8 scenes each month.

For those familiar with how porn sites usually operate, starting off with over 850 scenes seems unusual, and it is. It bears mentioning that there is currently a significant overlap between Midwest Freaks and its older sister site, Private Society. While the overlapping scenes are sometimes edited slightly differently, they are essentially the same. Is this a bad thing? In my opinion, it isn’t, but it does require a bit of “buyer beware”. If you’ve already been a member to one site, a lot of the content won’t be new to you on the second site. Midwest Freaks has also been adding edgier, dirtier scenes than Private Society as its new updates.

It’s also worthwhile noting that as Midwest Freaks expands, the owner intends that the exclusive scenes will eventually start taking over. As someone who likes edgier and raunchier porn, I can say with absolute certainty that I will become a regular subscriber.

The models at Midwest Freaks are a mix of true amateurs, pro-am models, and porn stars. In many instances, the porn stars here are shooting under a different stage name so it makes me think that for many of these models, this is early in their careers when they are still exploring the adult industry and haven’t really gone professional yet. If that theory is correct, for someone like me who likes to collect as much as I can from favourite models, Midwest Freaks has a lot to offer.

As is to be expected on a site that features amateur and pro-am models, there is a lot of variety in age and body type. Many of the models at MidwestFreaks are true MILFs and mature women, meaning that they are at least in their 30s, with many being older than that. There are even GILF models for fans of that niche. As for body type, that ranges from petite all the way through to BBW, with breast sizes also having such a broad range. While most of the models are white, there are still some black and Asian models here. Black men performing on the site outnumber the black women, so there are lots of amateur interracial sex scenes.

My last comment on the models at Midwest Freaks is that there is evidence that this site will follow the same pattern as at Private Society, namely where most models shoot multiple scenes. I like this, because I have a lot of favourite models, and found some new favourites at Private Society, so I’m looking forward to seeing multiple scenes with some of the new amateurs at Midwest Freaks.

Midwest Freaks members area is relatively basic but still easy to use. It works well on mobile phones too. The default view is the scenes in chronological order. There are simple dropdowns to filter by Category, Model, and State. These search filters work great. I appreciate it that there are lots of categories (keywords) added to every scene. Unfortunately they don’t show up on the scene pages, but you get many results for all category searches.

Scenes at Midwest Freaks are available for both streaming and downloads with the basic membership. While I don’t mind paying an additional fee to add downloads, I still really appreciate sites that offer both for the same basic subscription fee.
Downloads are available in HD – 1080P Full HD for newer scenes, 720P HD for old ones. There is also a low-res, low-bandwidth download option, which is a new feature, PrivateSociety doesn’t have this. This can be helpful for members with limited internet connections or old mobile phones.
Streaming is limited to one SD resolution for some reason, so if you want HD, you have to download the movies.

Readers who prefer scenes in 4K resolution will be a bit disappointed to find that MidwestFreaks doesn’t offer this. While this may not be much of a consolation, I find that the 1080p scenes look good on a large TV. A nice surprise is that the videos are recorded at a smooth 60 fps framerate.

I found speeds for both streaming and downloads to be excellent and on par with some of the big studios and networks. Downloads never timed out and I never experienced any stuttering while scrubbing forward on a streamed scene.

While the production values (camerawork, sound, lighting, editing, etc.) aren’t always up to the same level as the big studios, I wouldn’t expect them to be either. However, speaking as someone who is a bit fussy about good production values, I give full marks to MidwestFreaks for their work in these areas. Many of the scenes are shot outdoors, in the back of an SUV or pickup truck, or in a hotel room, which isn’t always going to be the best location for shooting a scene, but not only do they make it work, but they make those scenes look great. That takes a lot of skill and I think that subscribers will appreciate their level of professionalism.

Midwest Freaks has no real photography, but screenshot galleries are available for all updates. The screen caps are generated from the videos, and they are downloadable as ZIP files. This is different compared to Private Society, that one only has a few sample pics for each update. Downloading the ZIPs is the only option for viewing all screencaps, the online viewer only has a few sample pics.

As an active porn site subscriber, an important factor in opting to join an unfamiliar site is the biller handling the credit cards. As good as a site looks, if I don’t know and trust the biller that it uses, I’m not likely to give my credit card information and subscribe. The good news is that not only does Midwest Freaks use a reputable biller, but, in my opinion, they are using one of the best – CCBill. I’ve subscribed to many porn sites countless times using CCBill and have always had a positive experience. My credit card information has always been kept safe and secure, and managing my account, including cancelling the membership, is always fast and easy.

I highly recommend checking out Midwest Freaks, it is one of the best porn sites for American amateur porn. As I mentioned, there is a lot of overlap between Midwest Freaks and its sister site, Private Society. That’s only a concern if you’ve already been a member to one of the sites. But to be honest, if you like the content at one of their sites, you’ll definitely want to see it all, even if it means buying a second membership.
