DarkX review

DarkX is a popular interracial paysite, created by the talented director Mason. It is part of the XEmpire network, so the membership comes with full HardX, EroticaX, AllBlackX, and LesbianX access.

If you watch any amount of porn or spend time browsing around porn sites, you'll know that the interracial genre is popular. As with any other popular porn genre, there are low quality sites and high-quality sites. Dark X, I'm happy to report, is one of the high-quality sites in this genre.

In fact, this is one of my favourite interracial paysites available. Everything about the site and what it has to offer is top-quality. The aesthetic of each scene is genuinely professional. The stars are all top-tier, the direction and camerawork is excellent and the post-production work is great. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone when you know that the creative genius behind these scenes is the renowned director, Mason.

Because Mason works behind the camera and avoids the limelight, even avid porn watchers might not know who she is. Mason is a prolific and talented director who has been in the business for 20 years. She got her start working for Elegant Angel and she shot approximately 140 movies with that studio that have stood the test of time. Some of those movies deserve to be labelled as classics.

After Elegant Angel, Mason went out on her own and created a series of sites that quickly became known as some of the best porn sites available. Because of her reputation as a director, Mason was able to bring in top talent, which gave immediate credibility to these new sites. Among these new sites that Mason created was Dark X, which from its inception, offered some of the best interracial porn available.

Mason created four different sites, each featuring a different genre. I was an early subscriber to all of these sites, and it was a pleasant surprise for me when these four stand-alone sites were rolled into a single network available with one subscription. This network, XEmpire, includes DarkX.

The first scenes at Dark X were uploaded in October 2015. As a stand-alone site, it was frequently updated and grew quickly. At the time of this review, there were 302 DarkX video scenes available, and the entire XEmpire network had 1866 scenes.

Dark X continues to grow though the rate of growth now reflects that it is part of a larger network. These days, a new scene is added to Dark X monthly though it is worthwhile noting that the network itself adds at least eight scenes each month.

As I noted above, the scenes at Dark X have a certain aesthetic and are among the best porn scenes of any genre. Everything about them is top-quality and highly professional. Mason only brings in the biggest names in the adult industry so you're apt to see all your favourite stars here. I can't possibly list all the stars on the site, but here are a few: Gia Derza, Eliza Ibarra, Alina Lopez, Skye Blue, Kagney Linn Karter, Stella Cox, Emma Hix, Bridgette B, Cherie DeVille, Alexis Fawx, Romi Rain, and Riley Reid.

The sex can best be described as mainstream hardcore, and I don't mean that in any negative sense. The scenes aim for and hit the centre of where most viewers are. There are gonzo scenes, as well as movies with simple plots. The plots are thin but that allows the sex to begin quickly. The scenes don't fall to the softer end of the spectrum, nor do they ever stray into the harder edges of porn with rough sex and misogynist dialogue. Mason is a master at creating incendiary sex scenes without having to use gimmicks.

The site is logical and easy to use. There are multiple ways that a subscriber can use to sort for things that interest them. There are lots of tags, the ability to search by star and a usable search function. Also, because Mason distributes her work on DVDs, a subscriber can sort by DVD title as well.

Each scene is available for streaming or downloads, provided that the subscriber has purchased a membership that permits downloads. Both streaming and downloads are available in multiple resolutions. For those who prefer 4K videos, those are offered on videos starting with those uploaded in September 2018. All videos after that have 4K available, which means that over 140 4K videos are now available on Dark X alone already.

I found both download and streaming speeds to be fast and stable. I didn't experience any timeouts or broken downloads and with streaming, I didn't experience any stuttering. Your own internet connection will play a big role in your experience though.

Nice photo sets are available too with most updates, there are currently 228 galleries available. While videos are definitely the primary content, the photos are pretty great too. My only complaint is that 1920px is the only photo resolution, which is actually lower than the 4K resolution of the videos. They should change this.
The images can be viewed in a nice online photo viewer and downloaded as full gallery ZIP files too. The number of photos in each set varies widely, with many having more than 200 photos though the average number across the site is approximately 125 per set.

Two things need to be mentioned that aren't specifically about Dark X but that should influence anyone considering a subscription here. First, as I mentioned above, Mason's sites, including Dark X, started as stand-alone sites with each requiring a separate subscription. More recently, these sites have been bundled together to form one of the best networks in the gonzo genre, and one of the best values, in the adult industry today. The network, XEmpire, offers five unique sites covering some of the most popular gonzo porn genres today with all of them offering the same high level of quality. The network has over 1800 scenes and approaching 2500 photo sets. There aren't many networks that can claim both quality and quantity like XEmpire can.

The second thing worth noting is that XEmpire, including Dark X, are now under the Gamma Entertainment umbrella. For those not familiar with Gamma Entertainment, it is among the largest porn companies in the world with many of the internet's top porn sites in their roster. The best news, however, is that of the large porn conglomerates, Gamma is probably the most customer focused. I have subscribed to hundreds of Gamma sites over the years and have never had a single problem with them. They use proprietary billers, which can often be a red flag for a subscriber, but I've never had a single payment or cancellation issue with them.

All the sites from Gamma have the same design and usability. They work great on all devices, and have many options for searching and filtering by model and category. Not only do I find this site layout logical and easy to use, but I know that whenever I subscribe to any other Gamma or Gamma-affiliated site, I'll have the same ease of use.

A second advantage to Dark X being part of the Gamma Entertainment family is that Gamma is one of the few networks that is upfront and transparent about their membership levels. When you go to join Dark X, you're given a menu of choices with different pricing. If all you want is streaming, your subscription fee will be less. If you want downloads, there is an additional cost to that though the cost is more than reasonable. Anyone subscribing to Dark X or any other Gamma site will not have an unpleasant surprise when they get behind the pay wall. I wish that other sites and networks were as open as this about their membership levels.

I have to stretch a bit to find anything that I consider to be negative about the network. If you're only interested in DarkX and its interracial scenes, having only one update per month likely qualifies as a negative. But I'm sure that most subscribers are like me in that Dark X is just one site on a network with four additional class-leading sites with approximately eight updates per month across the network. I suspect that most people will join for the entire network and be very happy with what they get. Dark X is an impressive site, and if it was still a stand-alone site, I would still recommend it. Now it is part of XEmpire, one of the best gonzo porn networks on the internet today. The scenes are great, the site is easy to use, it's part of a large network, the scenes are directed by one of the best directors working in the business today, the site and network are affiliated with one of the best adult companies. My recommendation is to take a tour through the pages and I'm confident that you will agree with my assessment.
